Georg Schmidt, German Ambassador to Thailand, recently visited Palm Panlan Company Limited and farmers from the Sanfan Pela Pattana Settakit Community Enterprise in a southern province of Krabi’s Khlong Thom district.
The executives of Palm Panlan Company Limited and Global Green Chemicals Public Company Limited (GGC) welcomed the ambassador and led the delegation team to observe palm oil manufacturing process and oil palm plantations listed under the Sustainable Palm Oil Production and Procurement Project (SPOPP).

The delegation team had an opportunity to meet local oil palm smallholders who are members of the SPOPP project and gained insights into the implementation of sustainable oil palm and palm oil production to meet international standards, reflecting the readiness of Thai farmers to seamlessly transition towards sustainable production practices.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) in collaboration with Global Green Chemicals Public Company Limited (GGC) work through the Sustainable Palm Oil Production and Procurement (SPOPP) project in a bid to promote and facilitate the adoption of sustainable palm oil production practices in line with international standards.
The SPOPP project also provides comprehensive support to both the industry and oil palm smallholders to ensure a seamless linkage throughout the production chain of Thailand’s palm oil industry. ■
