As Thailand is at the forefront of working with rice smallholders to adopt sustainable best practices in rice production, senior executives and farmers are exploring more market opportunities for sustainable rice and will gather to find a way at an international seminar “Trends and Market Opportunities for Sustainable Rice” next Tuesday at Thaifex, World of Food Asia 2019, Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani.
The seminar, held on 28 May 2019 from 13:30pm to 16:30pm at Jupiter 15 Meeting Room in Impact Challenger, Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi province, highlights business trends toward sustainability in the rice sector and possible opportunities among public and private sectors to collaborate to advance the shared goals.
The seminar is organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) National Chapter Thailand.
Matthias Bickel, GIZ Thailand’s director for the agriculture and food cluster and Chairperson of the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Board of Directors will deliver welcoming remarks.
While Paul Nicholson, Vice President of the Rice Research and Sustainability at Olam International will deliver a keynote speech on the topic “Global trends toward sustainability in the rice sector”.
Pisan Pongsapitch, Inspector-General of the Office of the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will speak on “Driving behavior and market change through policy and standards”.
Alongside the speech, Matthias Bickel, GIZ Thailand’s director for the agriculture and food cluster and Chairperson of the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Board of Directors, Diederik J. Pretorius, Compliance & Sustainability Director at Herba Bangkok, Mrs. Duangjan Wichalin, a smart farmer from Ubon Ratchathani province, Martin Albani, Consultant, International Finance Corporation and Radee Sinpichetkorn, Senior Environmental Engineer, KHAO C.P Company Limited will give valuable insights during a panel discussion entitled: Staying ahead of the curve on sustainability with the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP).
Another discussion on “Defining the Future Together” will also be held.
Many participants from the public and private sectors, agencies, brand marketers, SME businesses and individuals in Thailand and globally are expected to join the seminar.
Thaifex is an international trade expo covering food & beverage and food catering.
The expo will take place from May 28 to June 1 this year.
