After almost five years of implementation, the project Strengthening National Good Agricultural Practice in Lao PDR has now came to an end. It was jointly developed under the framework of Lao-Thai-German Trilateral Cooperation programme and ASEAN Sustainable Agrifood Systems in order to introduce and develop a functioning national Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) system in line with ASEAN standards. The project was made possible by the Lao Department of Agriculture (DOA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency and GIZ (Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit). Thanks to the cooperation, Laos expects an increase of GAP farms to 100,000 in 2020 from a current figure of 300 in 2016.
Photos were taking at a training workshop held to train Lao DOA’s inspectors on concepts of Integrated Crop Management and Integrated Pest Management as well as analysis of vegetables whether the products can be certified as GAP, and also at a media trip of the project.
